OAU Halts August 25 School Activities, Postpones Scheduled Examinations
Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has announced the closure of the university on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, following the Federal Government’s declaration of the date as a public holiday to mark the Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration.
The announcement was contained in a special release issued by the University’s Registrar, K. A. Bakare, on Monday, August 24, 2026.
According to the university, the Vice-Chancellor has directed that the institution be closed for official business on Tuesday in line with the public holiday.
The university also stated that all examinations earlier scheduled for August 25 will be shifted to a later date, with a new date to be communicated.
However, staff members responsible for essential services have been directed to report for duty as required to ensure the continued provision of essential services to the university community.
The university administration subsequently wished staff and students a happy Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration.
