UNIZIK Debunks Viral Sex Scandal, Clears Lecturer of Allegations

The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has refuted social media reports alleging that one of its lecturers was caught engaging in an inappropriate act with a female student, insisting that the incident has no connection with the institution.

The clarification followed the circulation of a viral video which claimed that a lecturer at the university was caught inside an office with a female student before allegedly escaping through a window as students attempted to confront him.

However, in a statement issued on Thursday by the university's Director of Information and Public Relations, Aloysius Attah, the institution described the claim as false, saying investigations carried out by the university showed that the incident neither occurred on its campus nor involved any of its staff or students.

According to the university, the identities of those captured in the video have no affiliation with UNIZIK, contrary to claims accompanying the footage online.

The institution said linking the university to the incident was misleading and capable of damaging its reputation, adding that it remains committed to maintaining high standards of discipline and professionalism among both staff and students.

It also reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against every form of sexual exploitation or misconduct within the university community, stressing that any verified case of such behaviour would be treated in line with its regulations.
