UNIUYO's Late Submission Caused NELFUND Upkeep Delay – NANS President

The President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) BABTEE, has attributed the delay in the disbursement of NELFUND upkeep allowances to eligible University of Uyo (UNIUYO) students to the institution's late submission of its list of qualified beneficiaries.

According to the NANS President, UNIUYO did not submit the list of eligible students for the 2026 NELFUND scheme until late April, which delayed the onboarding process. He explained that this was why the last batch of affected students only received their payments in December.

BABTEE further disclosed that NANS is currently engaging the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to expedite the onboarding process so that approved UNIUYO students can begin receiving their upkeep allowances without further delay.
