Tinubu Appoints New JAMB Registrar
.
According to an official statement released on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the appointment is set to take effect following the expiration of the tenure of the current Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, on July 31, 2026.
Professor Aina, a Computer Engineering scholar at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, is widely recognised for his expertise in digital systems, examination technology, and institutional reform. He is expected to take over leadership of the examination body as it continues its digital transformation drive.
The Presidency described the new appointee as one of Nigeria’s youngest professors in the field, noting that he will also emerge as the youngest person to occupy the position of JAMB Registrar since the establishment of the board.
Academically, Aina holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, a Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security, and a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University in the United Kingdom. He also completed an executive programme at the Lagos Business School.
With over 15 years of professional experience, he has reportedly worked with both federal and state institutions, advising on digital transition strategies, systems design, and public sector reforms. He has also consulted for examination bodies such as NECO and NABTEB on ICT integration and exam integrity.
The statement further highlighted his membership in several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Society of Engineers and international engineering organisations.
President Tinubu expressed confidence that the incoming Registrar would build on the reforms and achievements recorded under the outgoing leadership, urging him to bring innovation and technical expertise to strengthen JAMB’s operations.
