Kwara Poly Secures NBTE Approval for ND Programme in Artificial Intelligence

The management of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, has secured official approval from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to introduce a National Diploma (ND) programme in Artificial Intelligence (AI), effective from the upcoming academic session.

The Rector of the institution, Engr. Dr. Abdul Jimoh Mohammed, disclosed the news during the opening ceremony of the 7th Annual International Conference organized by the Polytechnic’s Institute of Applied Sciences, held at the Admiral Mohammed Lawal Auditorium.

Speaking on the theme of the conference, “Harnessing Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Development in Sciences and Applied Sciences,” Dr. Abdul praised the Institute for selecting a focus that addresses the current shift toward technology-driven solutions. He noted that AI continues to rapidly reshape human activity and daily operations across multiple sectors.

The Rector expressed optimism that conference participants would gain relevant insights from the presentations and urged stakeholders, academics, and researchers to contribute scholarly ideas and papers to support the smooth launch and academic standard of the new ND program.

With this NBTE endorsement, Kwara State Polytechnic positions itself among the early adopters of specialized undergraduate-level AI technical education in Nigeria. Further guidelines regarding admission requirements and portal openings for the new programme are expected to be announced by the institution in due course.
