UNIPORT to Graduate Over 8,000 Students For 2025/2026 Session

The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has announced that 8,156 students will graduate during its 36th Combined Convocation Ceremony scheduled for June 5 and 6, 2026.

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Owunari Georgewill, disclosed this during a media briefing, noting that 120 students who earned First Class degrees would be honoured. He said the graduands comprise 5,822 first-degree holders, 510 Postgraduate Diploma recipients, 1,386 Master's degree recipients, and 438 PhD graduates.

Georgewill stated that several activities have been lined up for the convocation, including alumni engagements, research exhibitions, academic processions, and the award of degrees.

The Vice-Chancellor highlighted the university's achievements in infrastructure development, research, and student support through government and TETFund interventions. He also revealed that over 1,000 students currently benefit from tuition support and mentorship programmes.

Despite these achievements, he identified challenges such as inadequate funding, hostel shortages, land encroachment, and the need for additional infrastructure. He appreciated the support of the government, alumni, stakeholders, and members of the university community towards the institution's growth.
