LASU Begins Distribution of Smart ID Cards to 2024/2025 Undergraduate Students
Lagos State University (LASU) has commenced the distribution of newly produced Smart Identification (ID) Cards to full-time undergraduate students admitted in the 2024/2025 academic session, following the approval of the Vice-Chancellor, Distinguished Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM.
The initiative, according to the University management, is part of efforts to enhance flexible service delivery through digital transformation within the institution.
The newly introduced Smart ID Card is designed to serve dual purposes as both an identification card and a payment card, offering students seamless access to academic and financial services across the university community.
The University disclosed that the Smart Identification Card would also function as an access control tool, enabling authentication and regulated movement within LASU premises.
In addition, holders of the Smart ID Card will be able to carry out financial transactions conveniently through Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), Point-of-Sale (POS) terminals, and online platforms after activation.
LASU management further stated that the card comes with added security features aimed at preventing identity fraud and theft, while also ensuring adequate protection of students’ personal data.
Consequently, the Vice-Chancellor has directed all affected students to proceed to their respective Faculties and Schools for the collection of their Smart ID Cards.
