Lecturer Found Dead In Hotel room After An Alleged Sex With a lady

A lecturer Dr Matthew Uwuigbe in the Department of Medical Laboratory Science at Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, has been found dead in an hotel room after allegedly sleeping with a sex worker.

The police got information of the incident at about 8am on Monday, October 5, 2026.

Confirming the incident, the Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, said the hotel owner, manager and the sex worker were being questioned to establish the circumstances surrounding the lecturer’s death.

ASP Ikoedem stated that Mathew Uwuigbe, believed to be in his 50s, had lodged at the hotel and engaged the services of a 21-year-old woman,

The lecturer reportedly sent her out to buy water, but when she returned, she allegedly found the lecturer lying motionless inside the hotel room.

The police spokesperson revealed further that the deceased’s remains had been deposited at a hospital mortuary for preservation, while investigation into the incident continues.
