OAU Resolves Transportation Issues, Announces May 19 Resumption Date
The Senate of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has approved Tuesday, May 19, 2026, as the official resumption date for students following the expiration of the institution’s three-week mid-semester break.
According to decision extracts from the Special Meeting of Senate held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, the university management explained that the temporary break was introduced to allow the administration address issues surrounding the newly introduced transportation system and engage relevant stakeholders on concerns raised by students.
Senate noted that all matters generated from the situation had been sufficiently addressed.
Following extensive deliberations, the Senate directed that all students should resume on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, while academic activities are expected to commence immediately.
