JAMB Extends Deadline for Acceptance, Rejection of Previous Admission Offers
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for candidates offered admission from 2021 to date to accept or reject their outstanding admission offers.
The new deadline is Wednesday, September 30, 2026, giving affected candidates an additional opportunity to indicate whether they wish to accept or reject their admission offers.
JAMB had earlier fixed Monday, August 31, 2026, as the deadline for candidates with admission offers from 2021 to date to take the necessary action.
The Board, however, said the latest extension represents the final opportunity for all affected candidates, including those with regular or CUIIA admission offers, to resolve the status of their outstanding admissions.
Candidates who have yet to accept or reject their admission offers are advised to do so before the new deadline and should not wait until the final day.
According to JAMB, candidates who accept their admission offers will be able to proceed with printing and obtaining their admission letters. Those who reject their offers will have their dashboards reverted to “Not Admitted,” allowing the Board to update its records accordingly.
JAMB also clarified that candidates who are no longer studying at the institution where they were previously offered admission, or who are currently enrolled in a different programme, may accept the outstanding admission and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion of the admission, where necessary.
Similarly, candidates currently pursuing a second degree but who still have an unaccepted previous admission offer may reject the outstanding offer and continue with their current programme.
The Board further assured candidates who have been offered admission in the 2026 admission exercise but still have previous admission offers pending that they have no reason to be apprehensive. Such candidates may reject the previous offer without any adverse effect on their 2026 admission.
JAMB explained that the extension is intended to provide affected candidates with one final opportunity to regularise their admission status while enabling the Board to maintain accurate and up-to-date national admission records.
The Board emphasised that there will be no further extension after Wednesday, September 30, 2026. At the expiration of the deadline, all outstanding admission offers from 2021 to date that have neither been accepted nor rejected will automatically be reverted to “Not Admitted” status and will remain so in JAMB’s records.
All affected candidates are therefore advised to take the necessary action before the deadline, as failure to accept an admission offer within the stipulated period will render the offer invalid.
