UNILORIN Alumna Takes Over Leadership as Pro-Chancellor of FCE
The University of Ilorin Alumni community has extended warm congratulations to one of its distinguished alumna, Ambassador Dr. (Mrs.) Nimota Nihinlola Akanbi, following her appointment as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairperson of the Governing Council of the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo.
The appointment has been described as a recognition of her longstanding commitment to public service, educational development, and administrative excellence across various sectors in Nigeria and beyond.
Ambassador Akanbi, who previously served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Netherlands, is widely respected for her contributions in the areas of international relations, diplomacy, and public policy. Stakeholders believe her wealth of global experience and leadership exposure will bring valuable insight and strategic direction to the institution’s governing council.
Her appointment further reflects confidence in her ability to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of tertiary education in Nigeria, particularly in the area of special education and institutional governance.
Before this latest appointment, Ambassador Akanbi had served with distinction as the Chairman of the Governing Council of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, where she played significant roles in strengthening institutional administration and policy implementation.
She also recently served as the Board Chairperson of the National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC), a position through which she contributed immensely to the regulation, coordination, and improvement of senior secondary education standards in the country.
