UNILORIN Secures Eight TETFund NRF Awards, Ranks Fourth Nationally

The University of Ilorin has secured eight awards in the 2026 National Research Foundation (NRF) Awards organized by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), strengthening its position as one of Nigeria’s leading research institutions. The achievement places the University fourth among tertiary institutions nationwide in the latest award cycle.

Speaking during the presentation of award letters on June 22, 2026, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Wahab Egbewole, SAN, commended the recipients for their outstanding research contributions and dedication to academic excellence.

The awardees are Professor Bello Shakira Iyabo, Professor Obielodan Omotayo Olabo, Professor Amusa Tajudeen Olakunle, Professor Lanre Tajudeen Ajibade, Professor Babatunde Abiola Samuel, Dr. Akanmu Alex Morenikeji, Dr. Ibiyeye Kehinde Muhibat, and Dr. Oluwalola Felicia Kikelomo.

The Vice-Chancellor also acknowledged the efforts of colleagues, collaborators, and support teams whose contributions played a significant role in the successful research proposals. He noted that the recognition reflects the University’s commitment to advancing research, innovation, and national development.
