OAU Extends Hostel Stay for Students on SIWES, Teaching Practice, Others
Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, through the Division of Student Affairs, has announced an extension of hostel accommodation for undergraduate students currently engaged in extended but statutory academic activities.
The development was contained in an internal memorandum dated September 10, 2026, signed by the Vice-Dean, Division of Student Affairs, Dr Lukman O. Olasunkanmi.
Students involved in activities such as SIWES/SWEP, Teaching Practice, College Examinations, Farm Internship and other approved academic programmes are required to submit collated lists of affected students to the Division of Student Affairs.
The lists must be endorsed by the appropriate authorised university officer, such as the Dean of the Faculty or Director of SIWES, and submitted on or before Tuesday, September 15, 2026.
The university stated that only students whose names appear on the submitted lists and who are currently residing in university hostels will be considered for the extension.
Approved male students will be accommodated in the main blocks of Fajuyi Hall, while approved female students will be accommodated in Akintola Hall during the extension period.
Each approved student is required to pay ₦10,000 into the university account through Remita. The original university receipt is to be submitted to the Division of Student Affairs, while a photocopy should be submitted at the respective hall of residence.
Students granted the extension are also expected to vacate the hostels one week before the commencement of the new academic session.
