UNIPORT Dissolves Students' Union Leadership, Orders Immediate Vacation of Offices
The management of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has dissolved all Students' Union (SU) activities with immediate effect, pending further directives.
According to a memorandum dated July 19, 2026, and signed by the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. G. N. Woke, the directive was issued on the instruction of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Princewill R. Chike.
The dissolution affects the three arms of the Students' Union, Hall Representatives, and all other Students' Union-related activities across the institution.
Following the directive, all affected executive members have been ordered to immediately hand over all union property in their possession, including official documents, financial records, keys, identification materials, and other items belonging to the Students' Union, to the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs.
The university also directed all affected officers to make themselves available before an investigative panel whenever invited to account for their stewardship during their tenure.
The management warned that failure to comply with the directive would attract appropriate disciplinary action.
