JAMB, WAEC End Repeated O’Level Verification, Fix Fee

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) have introduced a one-time verification system for O’Level results submitted by candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions.

Under the new arrangement, candidates will pay a ₦4,000 verification fee once to authenticate their WAEC results through JAMB’s designated verification platform.

The initiative is aimed at eliminating repeated verification of O’Level results during the admission process and reducing the financial burden on candidates.

According to the new arrangement, candidates whose admission processes fall under JAMB’s supervision will be required to complete the verification through JAMB. Once successfully verified, the result will be transmitted to the relevant institution for admission screening and other necessary procedures.

JAMB and WAEC stated that the ₦4,000 payment should only be made through the approved JAMB Verification Service platform. Candidates were also advised not to make separate payments to tertiary institutions for the same verification exercise.

The two bodies further directed institutions to rely on the verified results provided through JAMB for admission-related purposes.

As a result, institutions are not expected to impose another verification charge on candidates who have already completed the process and had their results successfully verified.

The decision followed discussions between JAMB and WAEC on ways to streamline O’Level result authentication and prevent candidates from undergoing the same verification process multiple times.

The new system will also allow candidates to begin the verification process remotely from any location with internet access, potentially reducing the need for physical visits to institutions or JAMB-approved CBT centres.
