Monarch, MALEXY, AFI, Others Emerge Victorious at UCJ Press Night 2026
Honorable Updates gathered that the Union of Campus Journalists (UCJ) Press Night 2026 witnessed impressive performances from aspirants seeking various executive positions ahead of the forthcoming election.
According to the results released after the exercise, Ayanshina Olamilekan Sodiq, popularly known as "The Monarch," emerged as the highest-scoring aspirant of the night after recording an aggregate score of 536 out of 600, translating to an average of 89.3%. He outperformed his closest challenger, Adam Mozeed, who secured 517 out of 600 with an average score of 86.2%.
In the Vice President (Main Campus) contest, Adeyemo Fathia Itunu (AFI) recorded 527 out of 600, averaging 87.8%, to defeat Sulaiman Fatihat Olamide (MIDEY), who scored 505 out of 600 with an average of 84.2%.
Honorable Updates also gathered that Adetayo Joy Oluwatosin emerged victorious in the Vice President (College of Health Sciences) race after scoring 509 out of 600 and averaging 84.8%, ahead of Odunlade Kofoworola (MYRA), who recorded 490 out of 600 with an average of 81.7%.
In one of the most anticipated contests of the evening, Oguntunwase Oluwafemi Joseph secured victory in the General Secretary race with an aggregate score of 513 out of 600 and an average of 85.5%, while Muhammad Jamiu Raji recorded 499 out of 600 and averaged 83.2%.
For the office of Assistant General Secretary, Ajao Haleemat Wuraola (HERLEGACY) polled 485 out of 600 with an average score of 80.8% to defeat Lukman Masturoh Olabisi (LADE), who secured 471 out of 600 and averaged 78.5%.
In the Financial Secretary contest, Muka Abdulrahman Abolaji (AMZY) recorded a strong performance, scoring 502 out of 600 and averaging 83.7%, comfortably ahead of Saad Jamiu Oluwadamilola (AYINLA), who scored 454 out of 600 with an average of 75.7%.
The closest contest of the night was recorded in the Public Relations Officer (PRO) race, where Oluseye Emmanuel Olamilekan (MALEXY) narrowly edged Adams Kanyinsola Idris (ADAMZ OT). MALEXY secured 503 out of 600 with an average of 83.8%, while ADAMZ OT recorded 502 out of 600 and averaged 83.7%, leaving a slim margin of just 0.1 point between both candidates.
For the Welfare Secretary (Main Campus) position, Babaita Aminat Olohunwa (S.H.E) emerged victorious after recording 491 out of 600 with an average of 81.8%, while Agboola Omotolani Abdulrasaq secured 474 out of 600 and averaged 79.0%.
Meanwhile, incumbent Welfare Secretary (College of Health Sciences), Adiamo Abdullah Olanrewaju (ABDELLO), successfully defended his position with an aggregate score of 529 out of 600 and an average of 88.2%, the second-highest performance of the night. His challenger, Oladejo Mubarakah Olanrewaju, scored 503 out of 600 with an average of 83.8%.
The UCJ noted that all results were verified against the master score sheet ahead of publication. Students are expected to head to the polls on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, to elect their preferred candidates.
