JAMB Withdraws Suspicious Candidates’ Results Following Examination Fraud Probe
The Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, has uncovered an alleged technology-driven examination malpractice syndicate during the ongoing 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination in Delta State.
The development followed a series of intelligence reports and digital investigations into attempts by suspected fraudsters to compromise the credibility of the nationwide examination through cyber-assisted methods and unauthorized access to computer systems used by candidates.
The operation was reportedly carried out at the College of Education CBT centre in Warri, Delta State, where security operatives uncovered suspicious activities believed to be connected to a coordinated examination malpractice network.
According to a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Anthony Placid, preliminary investigations revealed that some computer systems used by candidates during the examination were allegedly accessed remotely by unauthorized persons while the examination was in progress.
The police explained that the discovery was made after investigators traced unusual digital activities linked to the examination process, raising concerns over attempts to manipulate candidates’ performance through illegal technological means.
Acting on intelligence and digital forensic evidence gathered during the investigation, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force reportedly launched coordinated operations which led to the arrest of three suspects believed to be directly connected to the illegal activities.
Authorities disclosed that the suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting investigators with ongoing efforts to uncover the full structure of the syndicate, including possible collaborators and additional centres allegedly involved in similar activities.
The police further noted that investigations have already exposed the involvement of other examination centres suspected to have participated in related malpractice schemes, although details of those centres were not immediately disclosed.
Following the incident, JAMB reportedly took immediate administrative action by withdrawing the results of affected centres pending the conclusion of investigations and proper verification of examination records.
The examination body, however, assured candidates affected by the development that they would not lose their opportunity to sit for the examination. According to the statement, arrangements are being made for such candidates to participate in the mop-up examination in line with the board’s established procedures.
The Nigeria Police Force also issued a strong warning to candidates, CBT operators, and individuals involved in examination malpractice to desist from engaging in any activity capable of undermining the integrity of public examinations.
