WAEC Announces New Method for Candidates to Access Result Checker PINs
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Nigeria, has announced a major adjustment to the process of accessing Result Checker PINs for candidates participating in the ongoing 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates.
In a circular dated May 25, 2026, and signed by the Senior Deputy Registrar/Head of Test Administration, S.D. Kum, the Council disclosed that candidates’ electronic attendance process is transitioning from the use of smart cards to a biometric attendance system.
According to WAEC, the development forms part of the Council’s continuous innovations aimed at providing world-class educational assessment services.
The Council explained that due to the transition, the traditional smart card, which previously contained candidates’ Result Checker PINs, will no longer be issued for the 2026 WASSCE for School Candidates.
To ensure candidates can still access their results without difficulty upon release, WAEC stated that adequate provisions have been made for candidates to retrieve their Result Checker PINs online.
Candidates have been directed to visit the official portal: serial-pin.waec.org and input their examination details to access the PIN required for checking their results.
WAEC further appreciated schools and stakeholders for their continued commitment to educational excellence and sought their cooperation towards the successful conduct of the examination.
