UNILORIN Decides '26: UISEC Unveils Timetable for Students' Union General Election
The University of Ilorin Independent Students' Electoral Commission (UISEC) has officially released the timetable for the 2025/2026 Academic Session Students' Union General Elections, setting the stage for a series of electoral activities leading to the emergence of new student leaders.
According to a press release issued by the Commission on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, the ban on political activities has been lifted, allowing interested candidates to commence preparations for the election process.
The commission announced that the sale of nomination forms commenced on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at the UISEC Secretariat, while the deadline for submission of completed forms has been fixed for Friday, June 12, 2026, by 12:00 p.m.
As part of activities lined up for the election, manifesto sessions have been scheduled for candidates. The first manifesto presentation, designated for PS , will hold on Friday, June 12, 2026, at the Students' Union Building, while the COHS manifesto session is scheduled for Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Oke-Oyi.
The commission also announced that the annual Press Night will take place on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 8:00 p.m., with the venue yet to be disclosed.
Screening of aspirants is expected to hold on Monday, June 15, 2026, at the Student Affairs Office. Thereafter, all campaign activities will officially come to an end on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, as the commission enforces a ban on campaigns ahead of the election.
In addition, a presidential debate for candidates contesting for the offices of President and Vice President, tagged the "7th Sense Presidential Debate," has been scheduled for Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
The general election is slated for Wednesday, June 17, 2026, and will be conducted online through the University of Ilorin portal from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
UISEC further directed all candidates to arrive at their designated venues at least one hour before the commencement of any scheduled activity, warning that lateness may result in immediate disqualification.
