UNILORIN Assures Graduates of Convocation Day Certificates, Works on Outstanding Cases

The management of the University of Ilorin has restated its commitment to sustaining the institution’s culture of issuing certificates to graduating students promptly, including on convocation day.

The assurance was given by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, during a meeting between the University management and officials of the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI) held at the Vice Chancellor’s office on Thursday.

The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between both institutions, particularly in areas relating to certificate processing, programme administration, and the operations of affiliate institutions.

Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Egbewole explained that the University remains determined to uphold administrative efficiency across all its affiliated programmes. He stressed the importance of proper coordination and proactive engagement to ensure that students are not negatively affected in the certification process.

The Vice Chancellor also disclosed that discussions were held on the need to review aspects of the existing Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2019 so as to accommodate current realities affecting programme management and graduation procedures.

According to him, although certificates for several graduating sets have already been processed successfully, efforts are ongoing to ensure that pending cases are resolved quickly to protect the academic progress of affected students.

Also speaking, the Director of the Centre for Affiliated Institutions, Prof. Yahya Oyewole Imam, said the Centre remains committed to maintaining the standards and reputation for which the University is known.

He added that the University continues to place priority on quality assurance, effective communication, and smooth academic administration in its dealings with affiliated institutions.

On the part of the National Teachers’ Institute, the Director and Chief Executive of the Institute, Prof. Sadiya Sani Daura, represented by the Director of Academic Services, Dr. Mobolaji Omobola Oyedeji, commended the University for its consistent support and contributions to the growth of teacher education in Nigeria.

The NTI delegation described the partnership between both institutions as beneficial and productive, while expressing optimism that ongoing discussions would further improve coordination, administrative processes, and service delivery for students.
