UNILORIN Vice Chancellor Sends Eid-el-Kabir Message
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole (SAN), has conveyed warm greetings to members of the university’s Muslim community and the wider Muslim faithful ahead of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration, scheduled for Wednesday, May 27, 2026.
In a goodwill message released through the University’s Directorate of Corporate Affairs, the Vice Chancellor expressed appreciation for the opportunity to witness another Eid season, describing the period as one deeply rooted in spiritual reflection and devotion, inspired by the legacy of Prophet Ibrahim.
He noted that the festival serves as a reminder of faith, obedience, and sacrifice, emphasizing that the story of Prophet Ibrahim and his son, Ismail, continues to offer valuable lessons on patience, submission to divine will, and selflessness.
Professor Egbewole urged members of the university’s Muslim community to observe the celebration with moderation and mindfulness, while reflecting on the moral values associated with the occasion. He encouraged the faithful to allow the teachings of sacrifice and obedience to shape their conduct beyond the festive period.
The Vice Chancellor also called on those who are financially privileged to extend support and kindness to the less privileged within their communities, stressing that such acts of generosity are essential in promoting peace, harmony, and social cohesion.
Commending the university community for its continued cooperation and peaceful coexistence, Egbewole attributed the steady progress of the institution to collective efforts aimed at sustaining stability and academic excellence. He reaffirmed the university’s ambition to remain a leading institution in Nigeria and to attain higher global recognition through sustained commitment and unity of purpose.
He further extended special congratulations to the leadership of the UNILORIN Muslim Community, including its Chairman, Professor Mudashiru Olalere Yusuf, and the Chief Imam of the University Central Mosque, Professor Nasir Abdussalam, wishing all members a peaceful and fulfilling Eid celebration.
