NANS Escalates UNIUYO Students' NELFUND Upkeep Payment Complaints
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has confirmed that it has formally escalated the concerns of University of Uyo (UNIUYO) students over the non-payment of their NELFUND upkeep allowances to the leadership of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) for urgent intervention.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the National President of NANS, Comrade Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, disclosed that the association took swift action following complaints from affected students who alleged that they had not received their upkeep allowances since January.
According to the statement, NELFUND has acknowledged the concerns, and assurances have been given that efforts are underway to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
Akinteye urged all affected UNIUYO students to remain calm and patient while the process is being finalized, assuring them that NANS would continue to engage relevant stakeholders until every genuine beneficiary receives their entitlement.
He reaffirmed the association's commitment to protecting the welfare of Nigerian students, stressing that NANS would not relent in ensuring that students' rights and interests are safeguarded.
"The welfare of Nigerian students remains our priority, and we will continue to ensure that every deserving beneficiary receives their entitlement," the statement read.
