KWASU Announces Appointment of New DVCs
KWASU appoints Jimba, Adam as DVCs
The Governing Council of Kwara State University, Malete, has ratified the appointments of Professor Moshood Mahmood Jimba and Professor Shehu Usman Adam as Deputy Vice-Chancellors.
The ratification of the Governing Council followed their nominations by the Senate of the University on July 30, 2026, during the 67th (Special) meeting of the Senate.
Their letters of appointment, dated August 11, 2026, and signed by the Registrar, Dr. Kikelomo Wasilah Sallee stated that the 2-year appointments take effect from August 13, 2026.
Professor Moshood Mahmood Jimba, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, was reappointed to the position after the initial and meritorious 2 years service. The Professor of Arabic language and literature joined the service of Kwara State University in 2012 and has served in many different capacities such as Head of Department, Director Centre for Ilorin Manuscripts, Dean of Student Affairs, and Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies before he was first appointed in 2024 as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration.
He has also served as chairman of the Kwara State Arabic Education Board and is also the current chairman of the Muslim Pilgirms Welfare Board following his appointment by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in 2023.
Professor Shehu Usman Adam, appointed as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, has been the Director of Consultancy Services of Kwara State University until this appointment. Before then, he was the acting dean of the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences.
He joined the service of Kwara State University in 2022 as an associate professor and was promoted to full Professor on the 1st of October 2025.
He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Economics from the University Putra Malaysia (UPM).
