JAMB Notifies Candidates as FG Introduces New Colleges of Education Admission Policy

JAMB Advises Candidates of Affiliated Colleges of Education to Change Institution Following New FG Admission Policy

According to information obtained by Team Honorable from an affected candidate, identified as Idowu Blessing Omowumi, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has begun notifying candidates who selected affiliated Colleges of Education as their first-choice institutions about a new Federal Government admission policy.

In a message sent through JAMB's official 55019 service, the Board informed candidates that the Federal Government has approved a new admission policy for Colleges of Education. Under the new directive, all admissions into Colleges of Education will now be through the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programme only, after which qualified candidates may transit into degree programmes.

The message further stated that Colleges of Education will no longer admit fresh candidates directly into affiliated degree programmes.

As a result of this development, candidates who selected affiliated institutions as their first choice have been advised by JAMB to choose one of three available options before the deadline of June 22, 2026.

The options provided by the Board include:

1. Visiting a JAMB-accredited CBT centre to effect a change of institution and select another institution as first choice.

2. Visiting a JAMB-accredited CBT centre to change their preferred institution to the parent (mother) institution of the affiliated college.

3. Allowing their second-choice institution to be automatically upgraded to first choice, provided the institution is not also an affiliated college. JAMB noted that this option will be implemented automatically if no response is received from the candidate on or before June 22, 2026.

The Board also directed affected candidates to submit their preferred option through the JAMB Support Portal. Candidates are required to create a support ticket under the Admissions Department and select the topic “New Policy on Admissions into Colleges of Education” while providing details of their chosen option.

JAMB emphasized that all responses must be submitted on or before June 22, 2026, to avoid automatic implementation of the third option.
