UNILORIN Appoints 57 New Directors, Deputy Directors, Others
The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has appointed 57 new Directors, Deputy Directors, Assistant Directors, Coordinators and Committee Chairmen across various academic, research and administrative units of the institution.
The appointments were approved by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, and took effect from August 1, 2026.
According to a memo issued by the University Registrar, Mr Mansur Alfanla, the appointments are aimed at strengthening leadership across the institution’s strategic centres and units, improving administrative efficiency, promoting research and innovation, and advancing excellence in teaching, learning and community service.
Among those appointed as Directors are Prof. J. A. Adeniran, Centre for Internationalisation and Strategic Partnership; Dr S. T. Bakinde, Sports Unit; Prof. Khadijat A. Yahaya, Ilorin Business School; Prof. A. L. Abdulrauf, School of Preliminary Studies; Prof. O. M. Ogunjimi, Institute of Education; Prof. N. A. Abdulrasheed, Stem Cell Research Centre; and Prof. Sidiqat Aderinoye-Abdulwahab, Computer Services and Information Technology (COMSIT).
Others include Prof. W. O. Raji, Laboratory-to-Product Centre (LAPTOP); Prof. A. A. Salih, Centre for Archives and Documentation; Prof. Ramat Salman, Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board; Prof. A. G. Adeniyi, Technical and Entrepreneurship Centre; Prof. T. M. Akande, Science, Technology and Innovation Park; Prof. Maryam Tayo Ayinla, Mentorship Centre; and Prof. Oludolapo Ojediran, Linguistics and Immersion Centre.
The University also appointed Deputy Directors across several centres and units, including Dr A. H. Zubair at the Centre for Internationalisation and Strategic Partnership; Dr Issa Omolabi at the Ilorin Business School; Dr Isiaka Abdulaziz at the School of Preliminary Studies; Dr Nimota Jibola Kadir Abdullahi at the Institute of Education; and Dr Mutiat Busayo Odebisi-Omokanye at the Laboratory-to-Product Centre.
Other Deputy Directors appointed include Dr Adijat Abdulraheem, Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board; Dr Taibat B. Jimoh and Dr Sa’adat Yetunde Yusuf, Technical and Entrepreneurship Centre; Dr Bilqis A. Lawal and Dr S. A. Yahaya, Science, Technology and Innovation Park; and Dr A. O. Fahm, Mentorship Centre, among others.
Five Assistant Directors were also appointed. They are Dr O. M. Olorunnimbe, Centre for Internationalisation and Strategic Partnership; Dr A. O. Odutayo, Institute of Education; Dr Mubarak A. Amoloye, Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board; Dr Khadijat Abdulkareem Abdulraheem, Centre for Renewable Energy; and Dr Abubakar Abdullah Salaty, Linguistics and Immersion Centre.
In addition, Dr S. Adeyemi was appointed Coordinator of the African Centre for Herbal Research, while Prof. A. Yusuf was appointed Chairman of the Environmental Committee and Prof. S. A. Aremu as Alternate Chairman.
The tenure of the appointees varies in accordance with the University’s regulations. Substantive Directors will serve for three years, ending July 31, 2029, while Deputy Directors will serve until July 31, 2028.
Acting Directors and Assistant Directors will serve until July 31, 2027, while the Coordinator and Committee Chairmen will serve in accordance with the terms of their respective appointments.
