FG Appoints New Governing Council Chairman for FUTA
The Federal Government has officially approved the appointment of Dr. Olugbenga A. Awe as the new Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Ondo State.
The official appointment was conveyed in a letter signed by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, dated July 30, 2026.
The appointment officially took effect on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
Dr. Awe succeeds Senator Nora Ladi Daduut following her recent diplomatic appointment as Nigeria's Ambassador to South Korea.

Dr. Olugbenga Awe brings a distinguished record in medicine, higher education, enterprise, and public service to FUTA's governing council
An alumnus of the University of Lagos with advanced postgraduate specialization in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Internal Medicine.
Serves as an Associate Professor of Medicine at Mercer University School of Medicine in the United States.
His appointment is expected to strengthen administrative oversight, strategic growth, and academic excellence at the institution.
