UNILORIN Assures MBBS Undergraduates, Says No Student Will Be Disadvantaged
The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has debunked reports circulating on social media claiming that it will not admit students into its Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB;BS) programme for the 2026/2027 academic session.
In a press statement issued on Saturday, July 4, 2026, by the Director of Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun, the University described the report as false, misleading, and not representative of its official position.
The management stated that admission into the MB;BS programme for the 2026/2027 academic session will proceed as planned, adding that the programme has already been advertised and that the 2026/2027 Post-UTME registration is currently ongoing.
The University also addressed concerns over the delayed induction of some of its medical graduates, assuring affected graduates that it is actively engaging the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) and other relevant regulatory authorities to ensure the induction is conducted as soon as possible.
According to the statement, every necessary effort is being made to facilitate the process, while affected graduates have been urged to remain patient pending further updates.
UNILORIN further assured medical students across all levels that appropriate measures are being taken to ensure that no student is disadvantaged, stressing that the academic progress and welfare of its students remain a top priority.
The institution reaffirmed its respect for the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), noting that it will continue to engage constructively with the Council to ensure that all outstanding issues are resolved amicably.
The University, therefore, urged prospective students, parents, and the general public to disregard the misinformation circulating on social media and rely only on its official communication channels for accurate information.
