FG Declares Public Holiday
The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, August 25, 2026, a public holiday to commemorate this year’s Eid ul Mawlid, marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
The declaration was announced by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government, according to a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani.
The Minister urged Nigerians to use the occasion to reflect on the virtues of compassion, humility and service, while praying for peace and national unity.
Tunji-Ojo also called on citizens to celebrate the occasion responsibly, with restraint and mutual respect. He assured Nigerians of the Federal Government’s continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property and maintaining peace across the country.
