UNILORIN Clears Over 10,000 Students for 2025/2026 Graduation

The Senate of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has approved the graduation results of 10,141 students who have satisfied the academic requirements for the award of various first degrees for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The approval was reached during the University Senate’s 312th meeting held on Monday, August 31, 2026, at the Senate Chamber. The meeting was chaired by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN.

The approved results cover students across the University’s various faculties and academic programmes. Senate also considered results from postgraduate and professional programmes, including PhD, Master’s, Professional Master’s programmes under the Institute of Education, as well as affiliated institutions.

The results were presented to Senate by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) and Chairman of the Business Committee of Senate, Prof. Moji Taibat Bakare-Odunola, after which members reviewed and approved them.

The development moves the 2025/2026 graduating students closer to the University’s 41st Convocation Ceremonies scheduled for October 2026.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor has directed Level Advisers, Heads of Departments and relevant Faculty authorities with outstanding results to ensure they are processed and submitted before the next Senate meeting.

Prof. Egbewole stressed the need for timely completion of outstanding academic processes to prevent qualified students from being excluded from the forthcoming convocation due to delays in result processing.

In a separate development, Senate also approved the report of the Committee on the Preparation of the Statute for the University’s Postgraduate College.

The proposed statute is to be forwarded to the University Governing Council for consideration before being sent to the Visitor to the University, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for final approval and gazetting.

Among the proposals contained in the draft statute is the establishment of a Provost as the academic and administrative head of the Postgraduate College. The Provost is proposed to be a Professor elected by Senate, with candidates required to possess a PhD. The tenure is proposed to be two years, beginning from August 1 of the year of election.
