ABU Introduces Flexible Tuition Payment Plan for Postgraduate Students

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has introduced a Flexible Tuition Fee Payment Platform for newly admitted postgraduate students in Academic Master’s and PhD programmes.

According to a special bulletin released by the institution on Friday, May 15, 2026, the initiative was approved by the Postgraduate College Board as a response to the current economic realities and the need to support students facing difficulties in making full tuition payments at once.

Under the arrangement, students who opt into the scheme will be allowed to pay their tuition fees in instalments within the academic session. The approved structure includes a 50% payment upon admission for first semester registration, a minimum of 80% payment before the commencement of the second semester, and full payment before second semester examinations.

The University noted that participation in the scheme is strictly optional, adding that students who prefer the traditional payment system may still pay their fees in full at the beginning of the session. The flexible payment plan currently applies only to Academic Postgraduate Programmes, while professional postgraduate programmes are excluded for now.

ABU management described the initiative as a significant step towards improving access to postgraduate education, boosting enrolment, and sustaining the institution’s tradition of academic excellence.
